Kansas officer killed responding to domestic call
A Hays, Kansas police officer was shot and killed while responding to a domestic violence call late on Sept. 27, 2025. The suspect was also found dead at the scene; the Kansas Bureau of Investigation has taken over the investigation and police say no additional suspects are being sought.

Kansas police officer dies after being shot while responding to domestic violence call

- On Sept. 27, 2025 at about 10:58 p.m., Hays Police responded to a domestic violence call in the 2200 block of Downing Street in Hays, Kansas.
- A responding Hays police officer was shot, transported to a nearby hospital and later pronounced dead; the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
- The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) has assumed responsibility for the investigation and officials report there are no additional suspects being sought.
