Lawrence Moten, Syracuse legend, dies at 53

Lawrence Moten, Syracuse University's all-time leading scorer and a prominent college-basketball figure, was found dead at his Washington, D.C., home at age 53, his daughter Lawrencia confirmed Oct. 1, 2025. Moten starred at Syracuse from 1991–1995, scoring 2,334 career points, later played professionally (including being drafted in 1995 by the Vancouver Grizzlies), and remained active in youth basketball and community work after retiring.
