Carnival ride malfunctions at Los Angeles high school

On Sept. 26, 2025, 'The Zipper' carnival ride malfunctioned during a Bishop Conaty Our Lady of the Loretto High School event in Los Angeles when a cable reportedly snapped, causing two carriages to collide and one to fall to the ground. Witnesses described the ride abruptly stopping and carriages crashing; the Archdiocese of Los Angeles said no one was seriously hurt and thanked first responders. The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health’s Amusement Ride and Tramway Unit has opened an investigation into the incident.
