Walmart announced it will remove synthetic dyes, artificial colors and a range of other food additives from about 1,000 store-brand products — including Great Value, Marketside, Freshness Guaranteed and Bettergoods — with a target completion date of January 2027. The retailer said it will eliminate substances such as potassium nitrate, advantame, neotame, titanium dioxide, azodicarbonamide, propylparaben, potassium bromate and certain phthalates (and noted several dyes have already been phased out), a move that prompted reactions from industry experts.
