CBS Poll: Americans Negative on Economy, Wary of AI

A CBS News/YouGov national poll of 2,489 U.S. adults conducted Sept. 30–Oct. 2, 2025 finds persistent pessimism about the U.S. economy and the job market, with just over half calling the job market 'bad' and a 4‑to‑1 plurality saying there are fewer good jobs locally than five years ago. The survey also reports that a majority of Americans—across education and income levels—expect artificial intelligence will have a net‑negative effect on job availability in their fields over the next decade; the poll’s margin of error is ±2.2 percentage points.
