Tennessee schedules execution for Christa Gail Pike

The Tennessee Supreme Court this week set Sept. 30, 2026 as the execution date for Christa Gail Pike, who was convicted in the 1995 torture and murder of Colleen Slemmer. The order requires the Riverbend Maximum Security Institution warden to notify Pike of the execution method the Tennessee Department of Correction will use by Aug. 28; Pike would be the first woman executed in Tennessee in the state's documented history if the sentence proceeds.
