Tarleton State coach Billy Gillispie on leave

Tarleton State University placed men’s head basketball coach Billy Gillispie on temporary administrative leave on Oct. 4, 2025 after an anonymous complaint prompted the school to open an employee conduct review, the university announced. Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Steve Uryasz confirmed the action and said assistant coach Glynn Cyprien will serve as interim head coach while the review proceeds. Gillispie, 65, who has a 226–182 record over 13 seasons and a history of past allegations during prior coaching tenures, will be absent from team duties pending the investigation.
