Maine probes discovery of 250 unmarked absentee ballots

Maine election officials and federal authorities are investigating after a resident in Elsworth reported finding roughly 250 unmarked absentee ballots in an Amazon package left at her doorstep. Secretary of State Shenna Bellows said state law enforcement and the FBI are involved; the town of Elsworth reported those ballots missing the same day. The incident comes ahead of Maine’s Nov. 4 election, which includes a contested voter‑ID ballot measure, and Republicans have urged Attorney General Pam Bondi to open a probe while Amazon says the package appears to have been tampered with outside its network and is cooperating.
