UN seeks MoU with Syria on missing persons

The head of the UN’s Independent Institution on Missing Persons in Syria said Oct. 8 it is essential to coordinate with Syria’s new transitional commission and hopes to sign a memorandum of understanding in Damascus next week. Karla Quintana outlined investigations into regime disappearances, missing children, and ISIS cases, noting estimates of 120,000–300,000 missing and that the UN is engaging countries, including the United States, with citizens missing in Syria.
