Gallup: Americans' trust in agencies plunges
A new Gallup poll released Oct. 9 finds approval ratings for FEMA, CIA, CDC, FDA, EPA and the IRS have dropped sharply since 2024, with many at or near record lows in tracking that began in 2003. Partisan splits widened: Republicans now rate the Defense Department (74%) and Homeland Security (73%) highly, while Democrats give majority positive marks only to the U.S. Postal Service (66%) and NASA (52%), and fewer than 35% of Americans rate the State Department, FAA, Justice Department, Federal Reserve Board and VA positively.
