U.S., Finland sign $6.1B icebreaker deal
President Donald Trump and Finnish President Alexander Stubb on Thursday signed a trade agreement for 11 ice‑capable ships worth about $6.1 billion, with three to be built by Davie in Galveston, Texas, and four by Bollinger Shipyards in Houma, Louisiana. The pact leverages Finland’s global icebreaker design expertise and deepens Arctic cooperation as Stubb said in the Oval Office that U.S. troops are training in Finland’s Arctic conditions and the two militaries are integrating.
