St. Petersburg to vote on identity flags
The St. Petersburg, Florida City Council will vote Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025 on adopting two official flags — a rainbow‑themed 'Harmony' flag incorporating the city seal and a 'History' flag honoring the city’s Black experience — after Gov. Ron DeSantis ordered multiple street murals erased as political messages. Sponsored by Council member Gina Driscoll and designed by artist Andrea Pawlisz, the flags would be flown on city property at appropriate times such as Pride Month and Black History Month; a DeSantis spokeswoman said additional flags are unnecessary.
