Texas arrests eight in abortion midwife probe

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Wednesday that eight people tied to Houston‑area midwife Maria Margarita Rojas were arrested and indicted for practicing medicine without a license, expanding a case that already charges Rojas with 15 felonies under the state’s Human Life Protection Act. Paxton said the defendants worked at clinics in Waller, Cypress, Spring and Katy; the Center for Reproductive Rights, representing Rojas in a civil suit, called the prosecutions a “sham.”
