USDA warns SNAP may lack November funds

The Trump administration warned state SNAP agencies in a letter that if the federal shutdown extends past October, there will be insufficient funds to pay full November benefits for roughly 42 million people. The letter, signed by acting SNAP associate administrator Ronald Ward, instructs states to hold November EBT issuance files and delay transmission to vendors until further notice to avoid Antideficiency Act violations.
