U.S. issues Level 2 advisory for Maldives
The U.S. State Department on Oct. 7, 2025 updated its Maldives travel advisory to Level 2, warning Americans to exercise increased caution due to terrorism threats. The notice says terrorist groups may attack with little or no warning and lists likely targets including tourist sites, transport hubs, markets, shopping malls and government facilities, noting attacks could occur on remote islands where response times are longer.
