USCIS draws 20,000 ‘Homeland Defender’ applicants

USCIS says it received more than 20,000 applications in under two weeks for newly rebranded “Homeland Defender” roles that adjudicate green cards, visas and citizenship, after launching a nationwide hiring campaign on Sept. 30. Director Joseph Edlow said 14,021 applications went to the Service Center Operations Directorate and 8,627 to Field Operations, with the agency advertising up to a $50,000 signing bonus, remote work and no degree required.
