Sister Jean, Loyola chaplain, dies at 106
Loyola University Chicago said Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt, the beloved chaplain of the Loyola Ramblers men’s basketball team and long‑time educator, died on Oct. 9, 2025 at age 106. The BVM sister, who became a national figure during Loyola’s 2018 Final Four run, served the university for more than six decades; funeral arrangements will be announced, officials said.
