Portland mayor removes ICE perimeter after federal request

Portland Mayor Keith Wilson ordered police tape removed around a local ICE facility the day after DHS Secretary Kristi Noem’s visit, despite a message from U.S. Attorney Scott Bradford directing the city to maintain a perimeter at least as large as the one set for the visit. In a reply to DHS General Counsel James Percival, Wilson said local public safety officials would make decisions based on Portland’s interests, as federal–state legal fights over deploying forces to Portland continue.
