Ex-student stabs 3 at Torrance school

A former student at the Switzer Learning Center, a nonpublic special education school in Torrance, California, allegedly stabbed three staff members around 8:15 a.m. Monday before fleeing and was later arrested, police said. The suspect also claimed to have planted two pipe bombs nearby, prompting a Bomb Squad response, street closures and a school lockdown; no explosive devices were found and the investigation continues.
