Watchdogs seek DOJ IG probe of Comey, James
Former federal ethics officials from Republican and Democratic administrations who lead the Democracy Defenders Fund sent a letter Tuesday to Acting DOJ Inspector General William Blier seeking an investigation into EDVA Acting U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan’s prosecutions of James Comey and New York AG Letitia James, alleging the charges were advanced to fulfill President Trump’s personal vendetta. The letter, obtained by CBS News, is signed by Norm Eisen, Richard Painter and Virginia Canter and cites the prior U.S. attorney’s ouster and the rapid indictments under Halligan, including Comey’s near the statute of limitations.
