Southwest LRT begins on‑track testing
Metro Transit started moving test trains on the Green Line Extension/Southwest LRT on Tuesday, Oct. 14, towing up to six light-rail vehicles from Target Field Station to SouthWest Station in Eden Prairie at no more than 5 mph with clearance 'feeler' extensions. The 14.5‑mile line, about 85% complete, will see daily train movements during months of testing and operator training ahead of projected 2027 passenger service, with a public safety campaign urging people to use only designated crossings.
