Philadelphia ME reaffirms Ellen Greenberg suicide

The Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office again ruled Ellen Greenberg’s 2011 death a suicide after a new review led by Chief Medical Examiner Lindsay Simon, citing no evidence of a struggle and the absence of her fiancé’s DNA on the knife. The report acknowledges the 20 stab wounds are “admittedly unusual” but concludes they could be self-inflicted; the family’s attorney, Joseph Podraza Jr., called the review “deeply flawed” and said it ignores key contrary evidence. The re-evaluation was conducted under a February 2025 settlement with Greenberg’s parents.
