China sanctions five U.S. Hanwha subsidiaries
China’s Commerce Ministry banned Chinese companies from doing business with five U.S.-based subsidiaries of South Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean and said it is investigating Washington’s Section 301 shipbuilding probe. The move, announced Oct. 14, targets Hanwha Shipping LLC, Hanwha Philly Shipyard Inc., Hanwha Ocean USA International LLC, Hanwha Shipping Holdings LLC and HS USA Holdings Corp., and comes amid escalating U.S.–China trade frictions over shipbuilding and port fees.
